Possibilities as to why some otherkin defend pedophilia

I’ve been seeing a lot of activity related to several otherkin defending pedophilia, or supporting ‘non-acting pedophiles’ and such.

I have a couple of theories regarding this.

First is the hypocrisy theory. No one likes to be called out for being a hypocrite. Perhaps some otherkin are afraid that if they do not show support for pedophiles, it will have a negative impact on their own reputation as a whole. ”Ah, so they support wolf-kin and gays and transethnics but NOT pedophiles?! Those hypocrites!” etc etc.

Second is the ‘enemy of my enemy is my friend’ theory. It’s clear that otherkin are struggling, and struggling hard. Most people think they’re full of shit and that their purported issues are completely made up. So it’s natural that some of them are eager to make fast friends with anyone that will hear them out. ”So-and-so smiled and nodded when I told him that I was a bald eagle! Yeah he’s a pedophile, but uh so what? We’re FRIENDS.”

I see a lot of excuses being made. Primarily ‘Well they only FANTASIZE about having sex with children, so they’re not hurting anyone!’. Of course. Similar to how Ted Bundy’s fantasies about killing people didn’t hurt anyone either. No, it’s when he went out and murdered people that his internal issues started affecting others’ lives. I’m not trying to say that everyone who fantasizes about children is a rapist waiting to happen. But human nature has proven time and again that if someone finds themselves in a situation (or places themselves there purposefully) where temptation overcomes willpower, there is a higher possibility that they will physically act upon their temptation.

Let’s put it this way: a person who is attracted to children is automatically at a higher risk of acting upon those urges than someone who is not attracted to children.

No one could possibly argue that.

You can say all you want about it being ‘impossible’ for someone to act on urges simply because ‘they know it’s wrong’. But think about it. I know that hitting someone is wrong, but what if I get extremely angry and do it without thinking? I might then tell myself ‘It’s ok. He deserved to be punched.’ More excuses. Look at the countless times in the history of humanity that someone has ever done something that they knew was wrong. Think about every instance where someone has altered their own logic to convince themselves that the wrongful thing they are doing is justifiable.

You’re making excuses for them.

Stop making excuses for them.

When everyone is telling you that something you’re supporting is wrong, you might reflexively feel that you need to become defensive and redouble your support efforts. I encourage you to instead just stop and think for a while. Give some serious thought to what you’re standing up for, and the potential repercussions.

I believe that there are many pedophiles who are ashamed of themselves, and afraid of their own issues. If you continue to support pedophiles, and make excuses for them, and try to help them believe that their pedophilia is not something that they should be concerned about or seek psychological help for, then there are going to be problems. Those pedophiles who believed that they were wrong for their desires will instead begin to believe that they are normal and that there is nothing wrong with them, with the help of their internet support group. This only puts children at risk even further.

This is why it is NOT the same as supporting homosexuals, or different races, or even supporting someone who thinks they’re a waffle iron. Why? Because children are brought into the equation here.

If someone confides in you that they are a pedophile, advise them to get professional help immediately. If you have to rhetorically ask me ‘What’s the worst that could happen?’, I’m going to give you an answer anyway: The worst that could happen is that a child’s life is ruined.

If anyone wants to add anything, or correct me on any points I’ve made that you think are invalid, please do so. I’m not looking to pick a fight, by any means. I am sincerely not trying to attack anyone. I’m just trying to do something to stabilize the safety of the future of children.
